The PublishNews Podcast brought in the announcement yesterday of the names of the five Young Talent Award winners. The award, created by PublishNews, sponsored by the National Book Publishers Union (SNEL) and supported by the Frankfurt Book Fair, has the mission to present professionals who not only represent the renewal of the book market but also the future of this industry .
What Young Talents seeks is to acknowledge notable contributions to the book industry in Brazil in a democratic way, trying to embrace all the links in the book chain, not only the publishing area, but also the areas of production, marketing, commercialization, dissemination , administrative etc.
This year, the jury - composed of Marifé Boix García, Vice-President of the Frankfurt Fair, Bruno Mendes, a member of PublishNews, and Maju Alves, responsible for the PN's special projects - received 31 entries. Of those, five professionals were chosen and are already winners (in alphabetical order): Carolina Rocha, editorial manager of Gente; Diego de Oxóssi, editor of Arole Cultural; Raquel Menezes, publisher of Oficina Raquel and president of the Brazilian League of Publishers (LIBRE); Talita Camargo, partner of 2Books and manager of Comendador's Bookstore, and Tatiany Leite, booktuber and digital influencer.

All five of these professionals have already won tickets to the Business Club, the VIP area of the Frankfurt Trade Fair. There, in addition to contacts with the main decision-makers of the largest and most important companies in the sector in the world, the winners will be able to attend a program of lectures, round tables and debates that bring trends and present the future of the industry.
On August 30, within the program of the International Book Fair of Rio de Janeiro, will be known the winner of the Special Prize that will go to the Book Fair in Frankfurt with the expenses of tickets and accommodation funded by the organization of the prize, as well as an aid of cost in the amount of 500 euros.
Who is Diego de Oxóssi?
Diego began his book career as an independent author. After three years, she decided to start her own publishing house. It was there, in April 2018, that Arole Cultural was born, specialized in titles that discuss Afro-religious religions. For the beginning of the publishing house, there were four titles: two by the publisher himself and two by other authors. Already in the first year, he decided that he needed to attend the São Paulo International Book Fair, where he met his first partners: Ivo Camargo and Catavento. It closed the first year with nine titles published, two of them - still considered the bestsellers of the house - sold more than three thousand copies each. He entered Brazilian Publishers and decided that he would begin the internationalization of his catalog. With less than two years of life, Arole has participated in the international fairs of London, Bologna and Buenos Aires from where it returned with contracts of translation and export to seven territories.
